Newly Weds: Georgia & Vasilis



Today we had the pleasure of attending a Greek wedding in Athens. It was a very pleasant experience as I had the opportunity of watching an Orthodox Wedding Ceremony at a church.

Below is a picture of the bride, Georgia, with her father in front of the stairs of the church as she just arrived.

…and below is the welcoming dinner for the newly weds just outside of Athens at a very nice outdoor facility. When the ceremony was over, it was past 10:00 pm and by the time we went to the dinner, it was already 11:00. The dancing started around 12:00 am after a very good open buffet feast accompanied by a vocal singer singing western songs.

After dinner everybody danced Greek. Not a single western song was played for the rest of the night which was surprisingly nice. The young and the elderly were bonded with this music as they danced various types of Sirtaki and Zeybeki. Below is a sample of a view from the dance floor…
